Antigone
Sharris, Engineering Technology Coordinator at Triton College and coordinator
of Camp GADgET, never fails to inspire the young girls who participate in Camp
GADgET. The camp, a summer program open to girls age twelve to sixteen, seeks
to motivate female youths by introducing them to the opportunities available to
them in the field of manufacturing. Through hands-on experiences and site
visits, the girls are able to build teamwork and problem-solving skills.
On
July 16, 2015, Century was proud to welcome back the GADgET Girls for their
fourth summer in a row. While at century, the girls were given a tour of our
facility, heard from different members of our team about careers in
manufacturing, and participated in a metal spinning project. Each girl spun a
bowl and lid that they were able to bring home to show their families.
Century
loved having the girls back, and we look forward to hosting the camp again in
years to come.
