GADgET Girls 2017!
The GADgET Girls visited our sister company, Ex-Cell Kaiser Manufacturing and Design, today to experience the world of product line manufacturing. The GADgET girls were able to work with Janet Kaiser- Owner of Ex-Cell and Century Metal Spinning, Vanessa Merel- Estimating Coordinator at Century Metal Spinning, Anna- Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Mary- Director of Operations. The girls participated in discussions about manufacturing and design, factory tours, and goal-setting.
Janet Kaiser, Owner of Ex-Cell Kaiser and Century Metal Spinning, and Vanessa Merel, Estimating Coordinator at Century Metal Spinning, welcome the GADgET Girls.
Vanessa Merel discusses the important world of engineering, design, and manufacturing. She also explains how Century Metal Spinning is a supplier for Ex-Cell Kaiser. Century spins the raw material which is then used for a specific product to be manufactured and sold by Ex-Cell.
Vanessa Merel facilitates a goal-setting session with the GADgET Girls. Each girl had to make a "goal bucket list," and then represent it visually on an actual bucket, spun by Century Metal Spinning.

Tech Savvy Conference
Vanessa, our Estimating Coordinator, recently participated in the Tech Savvy Conference hosted by Triton College on March 25th. Tech Savvy is an AAUW event designed to attract girls into the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields, while also inviting parents, mentors and teachers currently teaching and/or working in the field to learn about new developments in STEM education and careers and how they can further support girls' interest and success in STEM. The opening speaker was Josyln Matt, Web Developer and Technical Business Analyst, Vail Systems Graduate, Proviso Math & Science Academy. Throughout the conference, Vanessa was able to participate in different workshops while meeting some inspiring women in the STEM world.
