We enjoyed spending the morning with Camp GADgET!
The GADgET girls were able to meet with Janet Kaiser, owner of Century, and Vanessa Merel, Estimating Coordinator, to learn about the process and products of Century. They were also taught how to spin metal from one of our master spinners, and they were able to take home their spun piece. Then they participated in a fun activity using one of Century’s spun metal products, which they were able to take home to use as a time capsule. Lastly, they were given a tour of our facility and shown all the different ways Century manufactures products using a variety of metals.
What is the GADgET Girls Program? GADgET (Girls Adventuring in Design, Engineering and Technology) is a summer program funded by a grant from the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs Foundation of FMA (Fabricator Manufactures Association) designed to introduce female youth between the ages of 12 and 16 to the world of manufacturing through hands-on projects and site visits to manufacturing facilities.
